I've
always loved to draw! It's an outlet - an escape. If somebody
loves what I create - fine. If it makes someone smile, or think,
or feel - even better. That's what it's about.
I
love to illustrate for children and have created many books. I
also produce commerical artwork. When the mood is on me I will
pick up a brush and paint - or take photographs. I write and hope
(sometime soon!) that my children's illustrations will be accompanied
by my words.
Scarborough in Yorkshire, England is my hometown (and I AM a true
Yorkshire lass!), but now I live and work in Central Maine, USA,
(with far too many dogs, cats and horses.)
It's
been a diverse progression to full time illustrator and artist.
I attended art college in York and Sunderland, then 'shipped out'
and joined the Royal Navy to earn a living (and luckily worked
in military Graphics Studios with some fine artists and learned
a lot!). After my Naval career I was CEO of a lithographic printing
business in Portsmouth, England, which gave me a solid foundation
in print and design.
My
clients are diverse and worldwide, from publishing companies to
the manufacturing industry. I've also been lucky enough to have
had my art presented to the British Royal Family. I have had pieces
shown in several museum exhibitions and am collected by private
and public clients.
I
love my animals, the snow, the sea (and sailing), fish and chips
and mushy peas, and a good pint of Guiness!
I
hope I get to work with you soon!
