Conferences, Competitions and Cauliflowers.

This week I have had my nose to the grindstone. The door was barred to visitors and the candles burnt at every possible end. It's always good to have some deadlines to focus the mind. So no gadding off to concerts and the like. Unless gadding off to the New England Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators conference in Massachusetts counts? NO! This is work. ;-) really, really.

So that's the 'C' for conference. Fri till Sunday jam-packed with speakers, workshops, networking, schmoozing and downright good times. And why not! Full report next week ...

Competition ... first the Poster Showcase at the conference. The theme is 'Moments of Change' and here is my entry ... keep your fingers crossed.
The second 'C' is competition (well entry for a juried show) was a piece encompassing a story from the NORTH. It is for the 'True North Gallery' in Boston. It would be cool (excuse the pun) to be part of this show so I am really hoping it will be accepted. It is graphite and digital. I call it 'Flying Home'.

This was the first sketch ...

Then I worked on the dog and sled, and roughed in the background ...
.

And the final piece ...

I hear whether I am accepted on May 24th.

That's about it.

OH! Cauliflower ... well I had to find a third 'C' ... and I DID buy a cauliflower this week. First time for ages, and I am going to make cauliflower cheese ... yummy. I always hated it when I was a kid, but now I love it. How taste changes when we get older. Let me know if you want the recipe.

And now I have to do something with my hair, it's a very bad hair day. And then the 4 and a bit hour drive to Fitchburg. I am looking forward to a road trip. So is 'im indoors. He'll get some peace at home!

Chocks away!
